Ellyn has been fond of dogs since before she can remember. After getting a dog sled ride at Klondike Days in Eagle River, she was hooked to the sport and started attending races as a spectator. After a couple years trying to find a kennel to get involved with, Ellyn’s mom met Diane, and Ellyn was invited to come over and meet the dogs. Since then, Ellyn has been mentoring and started training and learning all about what it takes to have a dog sled team. Ellyn helps with chores and feeding at Top of the Hill Huskies while also training them in the fall and winter. Ellyn is fearless and willing to try any dogs, any trail, and do any chore, and she does it all with a grin and a giggle. While Ellyn hasn’t convinced her parents to let her start her own kennel at home quite yet, she owns a dog that lives at Top of the Hill and takes care of our dogs as though they were her own.
From January to March 2020, Ellyn was chosen to participate on BYUtv's All-Round Champion season 2. She represented the sport of dog mushing and competed against 9 other winter athletes to see who would be the All-Round Champion. Ellyn is a huge helper with dog sled rides as well, driving teams whenever she has any time to spare. Even better: Ellyn's older sister married Diane's son/Amelia's brother Dillon, so we are officially family! Ellyn started college in fall 2022! She finished her first year at UW River Falls and spent her freshman summer giving dog sled tours in Alaska for Dallas Seavey. We miss her tremendously as she's continuing her education, but we are lucky to see her frequently. We are so ecited to see what the next adventure for Ellyn will be! |
