Diane was the one who started the sled dog fun for us. After growing up with an Alaskan Malamute as a child, her love for the Northern breeds lingered. Towards the end of our horse showing days, a friend got in touch about a husky at the local shelter that was in desperate need of a home. Our other house dog was getting older, so we decided to bring Akeelah into the family during the summer of 2006. Fast-forward a couple of years, and Diane had two more huskies. As someone who enjoyed cross country skiing and being in the woods, Diane wanted to get her dogs doing what they are bred to do: mush! Diane met a gal who had an old sled for sale, so she bought it and started getting out and about with the three huskies. It didn't take long to realize that if she wanted to go further, more dogs were needed which ultimately led us to where we are now. Diane is now mostly off the runners, but she is caretaker and trainer of her kennel of dogs and and manager our sled dog rides and handlers.
